About the pack
You may have wondered about the dog who features on the packs and in the picture above? He is Chaz, a lovely golden retriever from Devon.
As to how Chaz came to be on the pack, Formula K's Founder, Kit Sadgrove, explains:
"We needed a dog for the front of the box. So I thought we should have a labrador or retriever. They're popular, and they're also prone to getting fat.
"As it happens I have a labrador retriever myself, called Clifford. And I thought we could save a bit of money (being only a small new business) by using him.
"So I was going to suggest using Clifford for the photo shoot. But then I thought, 'He's a great dog, but he's not the brightest animal around. What if he doesn't understand what we want him to do?
"I thought we could spend hours of expensive studio time, and get nothing out of it.
"So wisdom prevailed and the design agency (Red Rocket) found a lovely family that has a small number of show dogs."
In retrospect, that was a wise move because (as it turned out) Clifford would not have been up to the rigours of studio work.
Chaz is a calm, placid dog who spent two hours trotting dutifully after his owner, Sharon, as the photographer got shot after shot - none of which was quite right.
We had a particular image in mind, with one foot slightly raised, head up, and looking straight at the camera. Do you think we got it right?
You'd be surprised how hard it was to get exactly that shot. Happily, in the final moments of the shoot, we got the picture we were happy with. Thank you, Chaz and Sharon.
